Tamaulipas reports infrastructure growth and declining crime rates

Tamaulipas is experiencing various developments in infrastructure, security, and industry. Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya announced plans to expand the Victoria–Barretal highway section and highlighted the ‘Corredor del Golfo’ project, a major road initiative connecting Yucatán to Reynosa.

In security matters, the state reported its lowest homicide rate since 2015 during July 2026, alongside significant decreases in vehicle and residential robberies. Additionally, authorities have successfully contained ‘huachicol fiscal’ (tax fuel fraud) through coordinated federal and state operations. In Reynosa, a specialized task force rescued a kidnapped woman and detained two suspects.

Economically, the construction sector anticipates a strong end to the year, with 80% of CMIC Tamaulipas Centro members currently holding public works contracts. Meanwhile, the state health department is launching a transparent competitive process to fill 55 job vacancies to improve system efficiency.
