Reynosa City Council investigated for transparency irregularities

The Secretariat of Anticorruption and Good Government is investigating the Reynosa City Council for irregularities regarding public works contracts and transparency. Officials reported that the municipality removed information related to public tenders and contracts from its transparency portal before the legally required period had expired.

The investigation, which began in 2020 following the detection of missing documents and outdated data, includes a review of a 2020 contract exceeding 347,000 pesos. This contract was linked to Servicios Industriales SIGSA, S. A. de C. V., a company associated with Sergio Carmona Angulo. The company also reportedly received contracts during 2018 and 2019.

Norma Angélica Pedraza Melo, head of the Secretariat, stated that the department will formally request that the Reynosa City Council fulfill its transparency obligations and update its portal to ensure public access to necessary documentation.
