Matamoros infrastructure: New bridge authorized for 2027
During the second government report of Matamoros Mayor Alberto Granados Favila, Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya announced that a new bridge for the Portes Gil bypass has been authorized for 2027 with support from President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Infrastructure and public works have been central to the administration, with investments exceeding 572 million pesos in areas such as water, drainage, and sanitation. Key achievements include the repair of over 300 drainage failures and significant road maintenance. Between 2022 and 2026, social and public works investment in the municipality reached 12,199 million pesos.
Additionally, the housing sector is seeing progress through the Vivienda para el Bienestar program. In Matamoros, 160 homes were recently delivered in the Las Arecas neighborhood, part of a broader state-wide effort to reduce housing shortages.
