Reynosa Mayor faces budget scrutiny over public service deficiencies

Luis Miguel Iglesias, leader of the Independent Political Movement, has called for a meticulous review of the public budget in Reynosa, directed at Mayor Carlos Peña Ortiz. Iglesias argues that citizens deserve transparency regarding the allocation of 2026 budget funds to understand the causes of deficiencies in essential services such as potable water, drainage, paving, and public lighting.

Comparing Reynosa to other major cities, Iglesias noted that while Reynosa operates with a budget of approximately 3,383 million pesos, cities like Tijuana, Querétaro, and Monterrey manage significantly higher amounts. He emphasized the need to analyze the budget available per inhabitant, noting that 2020 INEGI census data placed Reynosa's figure at around 4,800 pesos per person.
