Reynosa traffic accident kills UAT student

A fatal vehicle collision in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, resulted in the death of a student from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT). The accident occurred on Avenida Vista Hermosa when a blue Volkswagen carrying several university students struck the rear of a tractor-trailer.

The driver, identified as Emilio, died at the scene. Four other young passengers, aged between 17 and 20, sustained various injuries. Emergency responders from Civil Protection and the Fire Department transported three of the injured students to the Hospital General de Reynosa, while the fourth required no hospital transfer.

Local authorities, including the Municipal Public Security Secretariat and the Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office, are investigating the exact circumstances of the crash. This incident follows a reported increase in local traffic accidents, with data showing a rise from 94 incidents in mid-October to 119 in the following week.
