RFEF revokes Málaga Ciudad Redonda futsal's elite league spots

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on Friday that Málaga Ciudad Redonda Futsal will lose its participation rights for the 2026‑27 season in the Segunda División, Segunda B and the División de Honor Juvenil. The federation said the decision stems from a procedural defect: the dissolution of the club’s ownership was deemed to have occurred before the transfer of the productive unit to Club Deportivo Heredia 21 Futsal.

The club, which had recently overcome a financial crisis after the University of Málaga withdrew funding, received an €800,000 injection from investor Manu Heredia. Heredia contends the ownership change complied with legal requirements and cites a similar precedent involving Córdoba’s futsal team. He has posted statements on X defending the actions, promising further details, and is considering legal avenues as the club’s future in elite competitions remains uncertain.
