RFI resumes service on major Italian high-speed rail lines

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) has announced the resumption of train services across several major Italian rail lines following scheduled infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.

On the high-speed line between Bologna and Milan, circulation has resumed after a suspension from August 10 to 17. The works involved the replacement of six large switches (deviatoi) at the Livraga and Piacenza Ovest locations. While service has returned, trains will operate at gradually increasing speeds until August 28 as the new infrastructure is stabilized.

Additionally, rail service has been reactivated between Verona Porta Nuova and Vicenza, as well as on the Vicenza–Schio line. These works, part of the new high-speed/high-capacity (AV/AC) Verona–Vicenza project, included technological upgrades and infrastructure reinforcement. The investment for the Verona–Vicenza section totaled approximately 72 million euros, with an additional 1.5 million euros dedicated to the Vicenza–Schio line. Some temporary schedule adjustments may persist through August 21 to allow for final technical verifications.
