RFK Stadium to host legacy tailgate event in Washington, D.C

Events DC has announced ‘RFK Legacy: A Tailgate Experience,’ a free community event scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at The Fields at RFK Campus. The celebration aims to honor the nearly 60-year history of the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, which has served as a major venue for sports and entertainment in Washington, D.C.

The event will feature appearances by various Washington sports legends, including Fred Smoot, Brian Mitchell, Joe Jacoby, Gary Clark, Dexter Manley, and Ryan Zimmerman. Attendees can participate in autograph sessions, photo opportunities, and intramural sports.

Live entertainment will include performances by the Backyard Band, Bongo District, HUE Band, and the Eastern High School Marching Band. The program also marks the premiere of ‘Echoes of RFK,’ a new six-episode podcast series documenting the stadium’s cultural impact.
