RG Kar victim's mother denies involvement in anti-CBI social media campaign

Ratna Debnath, the mother of the victim in the R.G. Kar rape and murder case, has denied any connection to an ongoing social media campaign targeting the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Debnath stated that her name and photograph are being used without her permission on platforms like Facebook to promote protests.

The social media campaign, operating under names such as ‘Voice of Abhaya’ and ‘Voice of Women’, emerged following a Supreme Court decision to grant bail to Sandip Ghosh. Ghosh, the former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, is facing CBI investigation regarding alleged multi-crore financial irregularities at the institution. The campaign has accused the CBI of a lacklustre investigation and has called for street protests on November 12.

Debnath expressed her condemnation of the misuse of her identity and emphasized her faith in the judiciary and the West Bengal government, stating that all issues should be resolved in accordance with the law and the constitution.
