During the 33rd anniversary celebrations of the Regimento de Guarnição n.º 3 (RG3) in Funchal, the Representative of the Republic for Madeira, Paulo Barreto, highlighted the unit's multifaceted role in defending democracy, participating in international missions, and providing aid during calamities.
Barreto noted the regiment's advanced operational capabilities, including hostage rescue techniques, drone usage, military engineering, and rapid logistical support. He emphasized the unit's readiness for international involvement, noting its capacity to integrate into NATO, European Union, and United Nations missions, as well as its projected sub-unit in Romania.
