RGB LED TVs to claim 13% of global market by 2030 as OLED burn‑in risk fades by 2026
Omdia projects that TVs using independent red, green and blue (RGB) LED back‑light technology will grow from 3% of global TV revenue in 2026 to 13% by 2030. Mini LED and RGB LED are expected to become the two main drivers of TV market growth, with RGB LED shipments rising from about 1.1 million units in 2026 to roughly 7.1 million in 2030, while Mini LED units could increase from under 18 million to nearly 30 million. China is forecast to be the largest market for Mini LED TVs, reaching around 10.4 million units by 2030, followed by North America and Western Europe.
Separate analysis shows that OLED screen burn‑in (image retention) risk will be largely mitigated by 2026. Manufacturers such as LG, Samsung and Sony have introduced automatic pixel‑shift, panel‑refresh and logo‑dim‑down features, making permanent burn‑in a rare issue for typical consumers. The consensus is that ordinary TV and mobile‑device users need not worry about OLED burn‑in under normal usage patterns.
