Région Sud launches second phase of AI strategy with 70 million euro plan

The Région Sud is advancing the second phase of its artificial intelligence strategy. Following the 2024-2028 plan, which includes a 70 million euro budget over five years, the region aims to transition from experimentation to the practical deployment of AI solutions within businesses, public services, and local territories.

As part of this initiative, the region is partnering with Artificial Intelligence Marseille (AIM) for its fourth edition, themed ‘The Big Shift – The Great Acceleration’. The region reports significant growth in its tech ecosystem, noting that the number of specialized AI and Data startups rose from 127 at the end of 2024 to 209 by the end of 2025. Additionally, the territory currently hosts 30% of French foreign investment in the sector.
