Régis Montagne to join Toulon from ASM Clermont

French international tighthead prop Régis Montagne will leave ASM Clermont Auvergne to join Rugby Club Toulonnais (RCT) on a four-season contract starting in the 2027-2028 season.

Montagne stated that his decision was driven by sporting ambitions and the resources available at Toulon rather than financial incentives, noting that contract offers from both clubs were similar. He expressed that he did not feel heard by the management at Clermont during discussions regarding his future.

ASM Clermont Auvergne president Jean-Claude Pats has responded to the controversy by calling for the club to move past the issue, stating that the season has already begun and he wishes to avoid further polemics.
