Nevşehir murder case solved after 18 years with four arrests

Authorities in Nevşehir have arrested four suspects in connection with the 2008 murder of Sedat Ünal, a case that remained unsolved for 18 years. The victim's body was discovered by a roadside in the Ürgüp district in November 2008.

The investigation was revitalized by the Ministry of Justice's Unsolved Crimes Research Department. By re-examining criminal evidence, DNA data, and HTS (phone) records, investigators linked suspects to an unlicensed gambling house where Ünal was last seen. Cell tower data showed a suspect's phone signaling both at the gambling location and near the site where the body was abandoned.

Following simultaneous operations in Kayseri and Antalya, seven suspects were detained. Upon being referred to the court, four individuals were arrested on charges of intentional homicide, while three others were released under judicial control.
