Rhea Seehorn wins first Emmy for Apple TV+ series Pluribus

Rhea Seehorn won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards for her role in the Apple TV+ sci-fi series ‘Pluribus’. The win marks a significant career milestone for Seehorn, who previously received multiple Emmy nominations for her work in ‘Better Call Saul’ but never secured a win.

Created by Vince Gilligan, ‘Pluribus’ also saw success during the ceremony, with Gilligan winning for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. The series, which follows a woman immune to a global hive-mind virus, has earned a total of 18 nominations. The production has also provided a boost to the New Mexico film industry, having been filmed in Albuquerque and employing over 1,400 local workers during its first season.

During her emotional acceptance speech, Seehorn thanked Gilligan for creating a safe environment for artists to take risks and acknowledged her fellow nominees, specifically citing a supportive note from Keri Russell that quoted Gloria Steinem: ‘We are linked, not ranked.’

Regarding the future of the series, Gilligan confirmed that the plot for Season 2 has been ‘broken’ and the first two scripts are completed, though a formal release date has not been set. Production is expected to begin in fall 2026.
