Rheden and Brummen discuss potential municipal merger
A public meeting was held in Rheden to discuss the potential merger between the municipalities of Rheden and Brummen. Organized by Rhedens Dorpsbelang, the session addressed concerns regarding the preservation of village identities and the accessibility of local services for residents.
The proposed merger involves thirteen villages in total: seven from Rheden and six from Brummen. The transition process is structured into three tracks: the formal administrative procedure for municipal reorganization, the integration of the two municipalities' civil services, and the development of a shared future vision.
Mayor Carol van Eert and project leader Henk Doeleman provided details on the trajectory. Key priorities for the new municipality include maintaining short communication lines between citizens and the government and ensuring that essential facilities remain reachable for all inhabitants.
