Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis expands civil protection fleet

The Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis district in Germany has acquired three new vehicles to bolster its civil and disaster protection capabilities. District Administrator Volker Boch oversaw the handover of the new equipment, which includes both federal and locally purchased assets.

Two of the vehicles were provided by the federal government. One is a CBRN reconnaissance vehicle intended for detecting and investigating chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear hazards; this unit will be operated by the Simmern fire department. The second is a Type B patient transport vehicle assigned to the German Red Cross in Bad Salzig, which also supports the federal Medical Task Force 38.

The third vehicle, purchased directly by the district, is a crew transport vehicle dedicated to psychosocial emergency care. This vehicle will be stationed at the disaster protection depot in Simmern to provide rapid support for victims, relatives, witnesses, and first responders following high-stress incidents.
