Rheinland-Pfalz celebrates ten years of STEM education strategy

The state government of Rheinland-Pfalz has marked ten years of its STEM (MINT) strategy, an initiative launched in 2016 to strengthen education in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology.

Originally driven by former Education Minister Stefanie Hubig, the strategy aimed to foster interest in these fields across the entire educational spectrum, from daycare centers to universities. A primary focus of the initiative is encouraging girls and young women to pursue STEM subjects by providing more female role models.

Over the past decade, the program has established eleven STEM regions and 23 regional projects. The network includes over 400 partners, such as universities, municipalities, makerspaces, and research centers, all working to coordinate youth development and professional interest in technical fields.
