Rheinland-Pfalz government unveils Hightech-Agenda to boost research transfer

The state government of Rheinland-Pfalz has introduced the ‘Hightech-Agenda Rheinland-Pfalz’ to accelerate the transition of scientific findings from research institutions into practical business applications. Presented by Science Minister Clemens Hoch and Economic Minister Michael Ebling, the initiative aims to foster closer cooperation between researchers, companies, and start-ups.

The agenda is modeled after the ‘Hightech Agenda Deutschland’ established by the federal government to strengthen Germany’s technological sovereignty, competitiveness, and value creation. By providing guidance on funding, transfer, and financing structures, the program seeks to turn research ideas into viable commercial projects.

Key technological focus areas for the state include biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. The initiative is designed to support the existing strength of the biotechnology sector in the region while driving innovation in emerging digital and computational fields.
