Rheinland-Pfalz Minister outlines road construction priorities
Achim Schwickert, the new transport minister of Rheinland-Pfalz, has outlined a strategy for road construction that prioritizes economic strength and regional connectivity. Speaking in Mainz, the CDU politician emphasized that new road and bridge projects must maintain a reasonable cost-benefit ratio to support the state's economic standing while ensuring that rural villages are not left behind.
Schwickert noted the ongoing challenge that current renovation efforts are being outpaced by the increasing number of roads requiring repair. To manage the state budget effectively, the ministry is developing a road construction program that prioritizes projects already in the planning stages. Key priority projects include the flyover in Ludwigshafen, bridges in Koblenz, and Federal Highway 10.
