Italy hosts forums on telecommunications and youth social issues

At the National Telecommunications Forum in Rome, industry leaders and government officials, including Minister Adolfo Urso, called for a robust industrial policy to sustain digital infrastructure investments. The sector is a critical economic driver, contributing approximately 139 billion euros to Italy's GDP, yet faces challenges from rising data traffic and declining revenues.

Separately, President Sergio Mattarella addressed the social importance of supporting younger generations during a ceremony conferring the 'Cavaliere del Lavoro' honors. Mattarella emphasized that society must not treat youth with indifference or undervaluation, noting that the negative balance of youth migration poses a significant burden on the country. He highlighted the need for stable employment and education to ensure young people can realize their potential and remain in Italy.

In the realm of professional training, the 38th Europa Seminar highlighted the gap between business demand for skilled workers and the high number of NEETs (young people not in education, employment, or training). Data indicates that while millions of professional roles are projected for 2025, nearly half are difficult to fill.
