Rheinmetall expands UK defence footprint with training contracts and autonomy centre

Rheinmetall is expanding its presence in the United Kingdom through major defence contracts and new technological infrastructure. The company, as part of the Raytheon UK-led Omnia consortium, will deliver a significant portion of the £2 billion Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) programme. Rheinmetall Electronics UK’s share of this 15-year contract is valued at nearly €1 billion and aims to provide a connected training environment for up to 60,000 soldiers annually, integrating live exercises with digital simulators.

Additionally, Calian UK has secured a 15-year agreement worth approximately £159 million to support the ACTS programme starting in October 2026.

In a separate move to advance military technology, Rheinmetall has opened the Advanced Land Autonomy Centre of Excellence (ALACOE) in the UK. This centre focuses on autonomous systems, utilizing the Canadian-developed PATH AI-enabled autonomy kit. The technology is designed for navigation and decision-making in complex or GPS-degraded environments and is intended to support NATO readiness by localizing advanced ground autonomy for the UK and surrounding regions.
