Rheinmetall opens F-35 component factory in Weeze, Germany

Rheinmetall has completed a new 30,000-square-meter manufacturing facility in Weeze, Germany, dedicated to producing components for the F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter jet. The project represents an investment of over 200 million euros.

Operating under Rheinmetall Aviation Services GmbH, the plant is producing 400 fuselage center parts on behalf of the American corporation Northrop Grumman. Once the production ramp-up is complete, the facility is expected to manufacture up to 36 of these components annually.

The construction of the site was completed in less than 18 months. During the opening, North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst described the facility as a significant contribution to European collective security and Germany's shifting security policy.
