Rheinmetall to invest €260 million in Kassel Airport defense hub
Defense contractor Rheinmetall is investing more than 260 million euros to establish the Defence Hub Nordhessen at Kassel Airport. The project involves a major industrial overhaul of the aviation facility near Calden, featuring a new logistics center on a nine-hectare site.
The planned facility will include three 300-meter-long halls and administrative complexes, providing over 30,000 square meters of usable floor space. Targeted for completion by the end of 2027, the hub is intended to optimize supply chains and streamline the handling of national and international orders.
Despite this significant infrastructure investment, Rheinmetall's stock has faced recent downward pressure, trading nearly 50 percent below its 52-week high.
