Rhenus to manage Dutch military logistics center for ten years
Logistics service provider Rhenus has signed a ten-year agreement with the Dutch Ministry of Defence to support warehouse operations at the new Logistics Center Soesterberg (LCS). The partnership aims to strengthen the logistical support of the Dutch armed forces, enhancing their readiness for training, exercises, and operational deployment.
The LCS is part of the development of the new Soesterberg Army Base, which involves consolidating four separate barracks into a single site through renovation and new construction. Rhenus will provide expertise in warehousing, supply chain management, and logistical optimization, while the Ministry of Defence retains responsibility for military logistical command.
The agreement utilizes a relational contracting model, focusing on shared objectives, knowledge exchange, and continuous improvement rather than a traditional client-contractor relationship. This public-private partnership is intended to create a more efficient, flexible, and reliable military supply chain.
