Rhetorical wins consecutive Coolmore Turf Mile Stakes at Keeneland

Rhetorical secured a consecutive victory in the $1.25 million Coolmore Turf Mile Stakes at Keeneland Race Course on October 3. The New York-bred horse, a son of Not This Time, led most of the race and delivered a strong late run to win by 2 1/4 lengths.

Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., returning to racing after a two-month injury recovery, was credited by trainer Will Walden for a strategic ride that controlled the pace. Rhetorical’s performance earned him a “Win and You’re In” qualifying spot for the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile.

Lake Forest (Ire) finished second, while Title Role (GB) took third. With this win, Rhetorical joins an elite group of horses, including Dumaani and Gio Ponti, to have won the Coolmore Turf Mile in consecutive years.
