Rhine river rescue operation launched near Koblenz

Emergency services launched a large-scale operation on the Rhine near Koblenz on Saturday following reports of individuals in the water. Approximately 100 personnel, including the Koblenz and Vallendar fire departments, police, and rescue services, were deployed to the scene.

Initially, a person spotted near Koblenz-Wallersheim managed to climb out of the river independently near Niederwerth. However, the operation was expanded after reports emerged that a second person might still be in the water. Rescuers shifted their search area further downstream to locate the potential second individual.
