The CSU parliamentary group held a two‑day summer conference (Sommerklausur) in the medieval Kloster Banz near Bad Staffelstein, Bavaria, on 26‑27 July 2026. Attendees included CSU group leader Alexander Hoffmann, Bavarian Minister‑President Markus Söder, astronaut Alexander Gerst, Hungarian foreign minister Anita Orban and Quantum Systems CEO Sven Kruck. The group presented a draft resolution calling for a massive expansion of the Bundeswehr’s unmanned capabilities – at least 100,000 drones of all size classes – and a “space‑fleet” of more than 1,000 satellites to provide secure communications, reconnaissance and precise situational awareness. The resolution also seeks a defence agreement with Ukraine that would obligate Kyiv to share its drone technology and other innovations with Germany. Additional proposals set out a robotics agenda, including humanoid robots for industry and care, and plans for a space laboratory to produce medicines in microgravity. The aim is to make Germany the strongest conventional army in Europe through technological dominance.
