Katja Lüke appointed new disability commissioner for Rhineland-Palatinate

The Ministerial Council of Rhineland‑Palatinate appointed Katja Lüke as the state's new commissioner for the interests of people with disabilities, effective 1 September 2026. She succeeds long‑time commissioner Ellen Kubica. Lüke, formerly a diversity and inclusion officer at the German Olympic Sports Confederation, will also chair the state advisory board on participation. Her mandate focuses on advancing accessibility, dismantling special‑purpose structures and further implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Social Minister Sabine Bätzing‑Lichtenthäler thanked Kubica for her service and expressed confidence that Lüke will promote inclusive living, education and work conditions across the region.
