Rhineland‑Palatinate consumer agencies host webinars on heat safety and online subscription traps

The Consumer Centre of Rhineland‑Palatinate and the regional media authority organized a digital “coffee‑talk” on 9 June to advise citizens on recognising and cancelling unwanted online subscriptions. Expert Andrea Steinbach explained how digital contracts are formed, rights to withdraw and steps to terminate services.

The same consumer centre also announced a free web seminar on 24 June aimed at older adults, offering practical guidance on staying healthy during extreme summer heat. It highlighted risks such as reduced thirst, medication effects and nutrition issues, and presented simple measures for hydration, cooling living spaces and monitoring vulnerable individuals.

Separately, the Heilwasser information office promoted a “Heat‑Action Day” on 11 June, urging the public to keep hydrated with mineral‑rich water, shift strenuous activities to cooler periods and watch for warning signs, especially among seniors, children and the ill. The advice complements regional heat‑protection plans and stresses community vigilance during increasingly frequent heatwaves.
