Rhineland‑Palatinate Minister Sven Teuber Announces Cultural and Municipal Reforms
State Minister Sven Teuber (SPD) of Rhineland‑Palatinate outlined a programme to boost the region’s cultural sector. He said the state will create new awards such as a newcomer jazz prize and a publishing prize for struggling book houses, push for a reform of the artists’ social‑security scheme, and strengthen cinemas, libraries and other cultural venues, especially in rural areas.
As the state’s municipal minister, Teuber also presented plans to improve local administration. He highlighted the need to cut double structures, simplify budgeting, and encourage inter‑municipal cooperation. A Rhineland‑Palatinate municipal congress is slated for late August or September, where he will position himself as the “lawyer of the municipalities” and promote pragmatic reforms to enhance service delivery for citizens.
