Rhône Prefecture bans unauthorized car gatherings

The Rhône Prefecture has issued a decree banning all unauthorized car gatherings on public roads throughout the department. The ban is effective from Friday, August 14, at 6:00 PM until Monday, August 17, at 8:00 AM.

This measure specifically targets an event titled ‘Rasso X Space Mountains,’ which was announced on Instagram by an account with approximately 12,000 followers. Authorities expect at least 300 participants and noted that the exact location of the gathering has been kept secret to avoid law enforcement.

The prefecture cited a history of illegal gatherings in the region that have resulted in drifting, burnouts, and confrontations with law enforcement, including a recent incident in Chavanay where a gendarmerie patrol was targeted. The ban covers the entire Rhône territory to prevent participants from moving between locations to evade police.
