Rhodes authorities remove illegal beach occupation at Anthony Quinn beach
Authorities in Rhodes have removed an illegal occupation of the Anthony Quinn beach in the Ladiko area. The intervention by the Dodecanese Land Service A followed reports from the Umbrella Network regarding unauthorized use of the coastline.
The dispute involves a section of the beach that was put up for electronic auction in March 2026. While a catering company emerged as the winning bidder with a bid of 200,272.80 euros for a 116-square-meter area, the company failed to provide the required performance guarantee letter. Consequently, no formal concession contract was signed.
Despite the lack of a legal agreement, the business reportedly occupied approximately 440 square meters with umbrellas and sunbeds, operating without paying rent. Following the inspection and intervention, the illegal installations were removed and a fine of 37,000 euros was imposed on the business.
