Rhodes Hotel Association funds hospital staffing initiative
The Rhodes Hotel Association has launched a €320,000 initiative to support the staffing of the Rhodes General Hospital. The funding, provided through member hotel businesses, is a three-year commitment aimed at addressing critical staffing shortages on the island.
The program specifically targets 20 healthcare professionals, including 8 doctors, 9 trainee doctors, and 3 technologists. A primary focus of the financial support is to cover housing costs, as high accommodation prices in Rhodes have been identified as a major barrier to attracting and retaining medical personnel.
The initiative was developed in response to a request from the hospital administration. Local officials and the Ministry of Health have recognized the move as a vital contribution to public health and the safety of both the island's residents and its millions of annual visitors.
