Rhodes monastery granted ownership of public land
The Greek Ministry of National Economy and Finance has decided to grant ownership of a 3,143.22 square meter plot of public land to the Holy Monastery of Panagia Paramythia Afantou in Rhodes. The decision, made by the General Directorate of Public Property and Beneficent Estates, follows a request submitted by the monastery in June 2026.
The land, located in the Afantou municipal unit, is intended to serve the religious, worship, charitable, and social purposes of the monastery. The monastery is already utilizing the site, which contains buildings used for its activities.
The transfer is subject to specific conditions: the land must be used exclusively for the monastery's stated purposes and cannot be transferred to third parties. If these terms are violated, ownership automatically reverts to the Ministry. Additionally, the decision specifies that this grant does not legalize any unauthorized buildings or structures that may exist on the property.
