Rhodes tops list of affordable Greek islands for British families
The Post Office Travel Money 2026 Family Holiday Report ranks the Greek islands of Rhodes and Kos among the most affordable European destinations for British families this summer. Rhodes scored 186.10 £ for a typical basket of holiday items, placing it 13th out of 22 surveyed resorts, while Kos was slightly cheaper at 181.38 £. Both islands outperformed many Mediterranean competitors, including locations in Italy, Croatia and Spain. The report also noted that despite budget pressures, 46 % of British families plan to allocate more money for future overseas trips, and more than four‑in‑five families still tend to overspend.
Travel writer Guy Venables describes Rhodes as a popular tourist hotspot with a blend of historic sites and modern all‑inclusive resorts such as the Princess Andriana. The island offers extensive amenities – multiple restaurants, bars, a waterpark, tennis courts, an amphitheatre and a spa – catering to families seeking a hassle‑free holiday. Its scenic landscape, Ottoman and Roman heritage, and proximity to Turkey add to its appeal for visitors from the UK.
