Rhonda Whitford wins Wimmera Mallee News tipping competition

Rhonda Whitford has been crowned the winner of the inaugural Wimmera Mallee News 2026 footy tipping competition. The Hopetoun resident secured the top prize, a $2500 trip for two to the Gold Coast sponsored by Helloworld Travel Horsham, by recording 163 correct tips over 218 games.

Whitford attributed her success to a simple strategy of consistently tipping favorites rather than using complex formulas. Despite a moment of doubt during the grand final when Fremantle took the lead, she maintained her position ahead of runner-up Anthony Schache to claim the victory. The competition saw more than 160 participants.
