Riau authorities repair Ujungbatu Bridge pillars

The Riau Provincial Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land Department (PUPR-PKPP) is conducting repairs on the Ujungbatu Bridge, which crosses the Rokan Kiri River in Rokan Hulu Regency.

The repairs focus on the foundations of two bridge pillars that have experienced a subsidence of approximately 2 to 3 centimeters. While the damage has not yet required traffic diversions, officials are taking preemptive measures to prevent further deterioration. Pillar 2 is reported to be in a more critical condition, with its foundation described as “hanging,” necessitating re-concreting to strengthen the support structure.

Khairul Rizal, Acting Head of the Bina Marga Division at PUPR-PKPP Riau, stated that although the subsidence is currently small, immediate action is required based on assessments to ensure road user safety and prevent the situation from worsening.
