Riau deploys 30 internship doctors to strengthen regional healthcare
Thirty young doctors participating in the 2026 third batch of the Indonesian Doctor Internship Program (PIDI) have been officially received by the Acting Governor of Riau, SF Hariyanto, to serve in the province’s health facilities.
The medical personnel will be stationed in Pekanbaru and Kuantan Singingi Regency for a one-year term following the Ministry of Health’s official assignment scheme. The doctors will rotate every six months between hospitals, focusing on clinical referral handling, and community health centers (puskesmas), focusing on primary healthcare services.
Key placement sites include RSUD Arifin Achmad (Ibnu Sina) Pekanbaru, RSD Madani Pekanbaru, and RSUD Kuantan Singingi in Teluk Kuantan. The initiative aims to strengthen the quality and distribution of healthcare services, reduce patient queues, and address medical personnel disparities across the region.
