Indonesia commodity markets see mixed trends in CPO and food prices
Commodity markets in Indonesia are experiencing mixed trends. Crude palm oil (CPO) prices at KPBN Inacom saw a slight decrease of approximately 0.36% to Rp 15,900/kg, mirroring a decline in Malaysia's derivatives market due to profit-taking.
In contrast, fresh fruit bunch (TBS) prices for palm oil farmers in Riau and Pasaman Barat have seen increases. In Riau, prices for 9-year-old plants rose to Rp 3,943.46 per kg, driven by higher CPO and kernel prices. In Pasaman Barat, the highest TBS price reached Rp 4,005.47 per kg. To support smallholders, the Riau Plantation Service is encouraging the formation of formal institutions to improve access to government aid and rejuvenation programs.
National food prices also show volatility. Data from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) indicates that while many staples like rice, chicken meat, and various chili varieties have seen price increases, some items like shallots and garlic have experienced slight declines.
