Ribadavia prepares for 37th Festa da Istoria medieval festival

Ribadavia is preparing for the 37th edition of the Festa da Istoria, a festival declared of National Tourist Interest, which will take place from Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30. Approximately 500 volunteers are organizing the event, which aims to transform the town into a medieval setting with banners, flags, and historical decorations.

The festivities include a medieval camp at the Castelo dos Sarmiento, a historical market, and various performances such as choral concerts, theater, and music. On Saturday, visitors can use maravedíes, a period-specific currency, at the Banco da Alhóndiga to shop at the medieval market. Other scheduled activities include a grand parade, archery, falconry, a living chess match, and a recreation of a Jewish wedding at the Igrexa da Oliveira.
