Ribeira Brava raises over 40,000 euros for cancer charity

The municipality of Ribeira Brava has raised over 40,000 euros for the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC) through the ‘Um Dia Pela Vida’ project. The initiative, organized by the Madeira Regional Nucleus of the LPCC, has been mobilizing the local population since April to fundraise for oncology patients.

The closing festivities included a 24-hour event featuring over fifty different activities. According to Ribeira Brava Mayor Jorge Santos, the project saw significant growth compared to previous years, expanding from 27 teams and 372 participants to 38 teams and more than 560 participants, including both adults and children.

In addition to the initial 40,000 euros, the total amount raised will include revenues generated during the final two days of celebrations. Mayor Santos praised the community's solidarity and the efforts of the organizers, emphasizing the importance of supporting survivors, patients, and caregivers.
