Ribeira de Pena and Figueiró dos Vinhos hold fairs on linen, antiques

The 25th edition of the Ribeira de Pena Linen Fair returned, featuring 65 exhibitors and more than 20 tasquinhas offering local products such as green wine and Maronesa meat. The event, supported by an investment of over €300,000, highlights the craft of local women weavers, some aged 80 and others in their twenties, and seeks inclusion of the linen tradition in the national intangible cultural heritage inventory.

In the municipality of Figueiró dos Vinhos, the historic São Pantaleão Fair introduced for the first time a Velharias (antiques) market. The market was attended by Valdemar and Clara, a couple from Brasfemes who have collected and sold vintage items for over two decades. They displayed a range of objects, from iron weighing scales to antique radios, drawing visitors interested in nostalgic pieces. The fair runs until 28 July and combines traditional crafts, gastronomy, music and animation with the new antiques segment.
