Ribeira Grande beach ramp accident injures young woman
A young woman in Ribeira Grande sustained injuries after falling on a wooden beach access ramp. According to her grandfather, three steps on the structure were not properly marked and were covered by sand at the time of the accident. The victim, a clinical psychology graduate, must remain immobilized for one month to recover.
The Ribeira Grande municipality responded by stating the ramp was installed following community requests, particularly from surfers, and noted that no previous complaints had been filed regarding the structure. The local government described the family's allegations as “accusatory and threatening,” maintaining that the structure is solid and includes non-slip tape on identified steps.
