Ribeirão Pires reports significant drop in robberies and thefts

Ribeirão Pires recorded a significant decrease in crime rates during July 2026, according to data from the São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP). Reports indicate a 40% drop in robberies and a 35% reduction in thefts compared to the same period in 2025. Notably, vehicle robberies saw a 60% decline.

Local authorities attribute these results to the integration of technology and increased police presence. The 'Smart Ribeirão Pires' initiative includes over 180 video monitoring cameras, facial recognition totems, and license plate readers integrated with the 'Muralha Paulista' program.

The city also established the Municipal Public Security Observatory to provide statistical analysis and strategic mapping to support the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) and urban security policies.
