Ribeirão Preto agro-industries gain national sales authorization

Two agro-industries based in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, have gained authorization to sell their products throughout Brazil. This follows a decree by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) recognizing the Ribeirão Preto Municipal Inspection Service (SIM) as equivalent to the Brazilian System of Inspection of Products of Animal Origin (Sisbi-POA).

The authorized companies specialize in fish products ready for electric fryers—including tilapia, shrimp, surubim, and tilapia croquettes—and automated hamburger production. Previously limited to local markets, these businesses can now expand their distribution to emporiums, convenience stores, restaurants, and other states.

One company plans to increase production and staff as new distribution channels are established, while the hamburger manufacturer, which already serves clients in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, anticipates further investments by 2027. To indicate compliance, the companies must include the Sisbi inscription on their packaging.
