Ribeirão Preto municipality approves property swap with Marista school
The City Council of Ribeirão Preto voted 13‑to‑0 to approve a swap of municipal land for the premises of the Marista school, sending the proposal back to the legislative chamber for final review. Local business groups SINCOVARP and the Chamber of Shopkeepers (CDL) welcomed the move, saying it will enable a new administrative centre and aid the revitalisation of Av. Nove de Julho. The Marista school, marking its 88th anniversary, issued a statement that the council's approval does not finalize the deal; further negotiations are required and the school’s operations will continue unchanged for now.
The agreement remains under discussion, with both municipal and school officials pledging transparency as the project proceeds.
