Ribera del Fresno to host Romería del Pozo with new San Juan Macías sculpture

Ribera del Fresno will host the Romería del Pozo on September 19 and 20, centered around the figure of San Juan Macías. A key highlight of this year's event is the presentation and blessing of a new sculpture of the saint, created by sculptor Gonzalo Quesada.

The festivities will begin on Saturday, September 19, with the official reception of the new image at the Santísimo Cristo de las Misericordias, followed by a solemn Eucharist and a procession to the saint's hermitage. On Sunday, September 20, the II Camino del Peregrino will take place, a pilgrimage route following the footsteps of the saint from the hermitage to the Pozo.

This celebration aims to strengthen the religious and historical heritage of San Juan Macías, a Dominican figure born in Ribera del Fresno in 1585, especially as the community approaches the 50th anniversary of his canonization in 2025.
