Ribnjak Prnjavor bankruptcy remains stalled by property dispute

The bankruptcy proceedings for the company Ribnjak Prnjavor have remained unresolved for six years, leaving creditors waiting for repayment. The bankruptcy, initiated in 2020, has been stalled due to ongoing legal disputes regarding property rights and whether the company's assets were eligible for privatization.

Bankruptcy administrator Radomir Predojević stated that the District Commercial Court in Banja Luka is expected to rule on the dispute within approximately ten days. While the Republic Administration for Geodetic and Property-Legal Affairs has issued decisions in favor of Ribnjak Prnjavor twice, the Attorney General's Office appealed these rulings, leading to the current judicial review.

Ribnjak Prnjavor, which manages 870 hectares of fishponds, was previously majority-owned by R&S Company, owned by Radojica Ratkovac. The bankruptcy was triggered after the company's accounts were blocked due to unpaid obligations to the state and various creditors. A 2021 court ruling has prohibited the sale, alienation, or leasing of the company's assets, preventing any auctions from taking place until the ownership dispute is settled.
