Éric Ciotti cancels Nice wedding after 16 traffic violations
Nice Mayor Éric Ciotti ordered the cancellation of a wedding ceremony scheduled for September 12 at Parc Phoenix following significant public order disturbances. The cancellation was prompted by a wedding procession that blocked a major expressway and engaged in various traffic violations.
Municipal police recorded 16 specific infractions during the procession on Mathis road. These included nine instances of not wearing seatbelts, two vehicles driving against traffic, two unauthorized stops on the expressway, one instance of driving on a sidewalk, one driver using a phone, and one failure to respect a traffic light. The procession involved motorcycles, a quad, and several vehicles.
In response to the incident, Ciotti stated on social media that weddings in Nice will not permit stunt riding or disregard for traffic rules, and he announced the implementation of new regulations concerning wedding processions within the municipality.
